Meta Notes to Title

Surprisingly powerful utilization of a common metadata entry.

Notes can be entered in the Event browser clip’s metadata and when added to the storyline, it will still be there. This is useful for clip creation information.

Notes can be added to or changed from the instance of the clip in the storyline without changing the Note information of the Event clip version.

If you didn't know:

Normally, you cannot use a Return character in any of the Metadata fields to create a multi-line entry.

However, if you type Control-Return for the return character, you will get a multi-line entry. This can be used to format your title Effect.

Formatting options:

As an Effect, Meta Notes can be used to design your own custom variations. Simply set it up like you want and save as Effects Preset.

Any size clip you design your “title” in will work in any other aspect format clip. Be aware that distances from edges are in percent so you may only have minor adjustments to make.

Parameters:

Screen H and Screen V Location allow you to control the placement of the text. Values are from -100 to 100. Zero is center. These can be keyframed for animation.

Padding H and Padding V add more background to the text. Padding H is in %… of its original size (built to span more than twice the width of the screen.)

Collection is provided if you use this feature of Font Book to organize your Fonts. It simplifies your font options in the following menu.

Alignment can be used to Left, Center or Right align *multi-line* texts, otherwise it is not necessary.

Size, Line Spacing, Tracking, Bg Color, and Bg Opacity should all be familiar.

Show At % and Hide At % are used to arrange the visibility of the effect in % of Length of Clip. The Fade (1s Max) control allows or a Fade In/Fade Out effect starting and ending at the In/Out points you create with Show and Hide At.
