Create seamless animated or still patterns right in the storyline!
Create your own amazing backgrounds for titles, or even content replacement.
Pattern Maker is an FCPX Effect and has access to Effect Masks.
Create some out of this world “textures”. Re-purpose old stock footage by inventing something new from the content.
Pattern Maker is designed to use either the actual clip, or a drop zone clip, your choice (selectable). If you use the drop zone clip, you can add a second video clip to the original and create a pattern from it.
The use of Effect Masks can isolate the drop zone content to the masked areas while the original clip is still visible outside of masked areas. This is hugely powerful!
Pattern Maker has an onscreen control that allows you to target the pattern area. Also shown is the Feather Range. [Turn off visibility to both the drop zone and the “Original Copy” (of the main storyline clip).
In this video, I used mostly “straight-forward” clips and images (Desktop images from Mac OS). The scene of Las Vegas uses a drop zone clip of a Desktop Image as the pattern source and “sky replacement”.
The last clip (the stop-motion fruits/veggies) uses a Shape Mask to animate the pattern on then does a wipe back to the original clip towards the end. Other than that, there is not a lot of “fancy work” in any of this video – just straight-forward parameter settings.
An easy to use tool. Repurpose footage for backgrounds or region fills using Final Cut’s built in Effect Mask feature.
